Tanaë
BIOGRAPHY
Tanaë is the moniker of 22-year-old Belgian upcoming artist Shana Seminara. Raised in Liège, she inherited her love for music from her mom and grew out to be one of the most promising artist from the area.
Her own blend of pop melodies and soul influences mixed with urban and electronic rhythms includes various influences ranging from Lauryn Hill to Björk, Portishead, and Amy Whinehouse as well as artists from her generation like Jorja Smith, Billie Eilish or Kali Uchis.
While music runs in her family, as she started singing at only age 2, her project Tanaë is a completely brand new incarnation of her persona. With the help of Manu Freson (founder of G-Major Records, author, composer, producer and artist manager), she started working on her personal project in 2016 and began sharing covers online in early 2017.
Her reinterpretation of hits from artists such as Drake, 21 Pilots, Imany and Synapson did not fail to create a positive unanimous reaction amongst the 3500 fans who liked her Facebook page in the few months following her postings. Her cover of the massive hit Barbie Girl has been watched over 100k times on Facebook since its release in June 2017 and definitely helped bringing the spotlight on her next project.
In early October, her first original single I Need Your Love was released online with critical acclaim from her fan base and local radio stations. The lyrics from this song address her own view on fear of commitment while the music digs further into her soul influences. Following this release, her first EP Introspection came out in January 2018 which prompted a live performance of her repertoire at Reflektor, one of the biggest venue in the city of Liège.
Her second single Don’t Go from the same EP was released consecutively, gathering an even greater response and access to national radio playlists in Belgium and Luxembourg as well as a third single One Night in November 2018. Aside from her success on social media, Tanaë just a reached a milestone with over 2 million streams on Spotify, her EP cumulating 600k of these all without the help any major label support or expensive advertising campaign. Her song Still Beautiful reached the TOP 50 Viral tracks in Turkey on Spotify and everyday new fans are joining her adventure. All of this gathered allowed her to open for experienced Belgian artists like Noa Moon, Saule or Typh Barrow but also
international acts like Jessy Glynne(Clean Bandit). In May 2019, Tanaë released her first album Talking To Myself made of 8 original tracks including Mirrors, the single that announced the album with a video that was massively shared by her followers on social media. To celebrate that first LP, Tanaë performed at Les Nuits – Botanique on 5th of May in Brussels, one of the trendiest music event in Belgium. This summer, Tanaë will be playing in some of the most popular festivals in Belgium: Les Ardentes, Les Francofolies (main stage), Brussels Summer Festival, Les Solidarités and many others.
